Dr. Amanda NelsonDr. Amanda Nelson was born and raised in Bend, OR where she grew to honor the values of community, diligence and craftsmanship. She is a female plastic surgeon specializing in natural looking results through patient centered care and artistry. Her clinical expertise includes facial plastic surgery, breast surgery, body contouring, laser applications, and injectables such as neuromodulators and fillers.

An honors graduate of Willamette University, she distinguished herself in academic and athletic pursuits as a member of Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society, Community Outreach Scholar, and NCAA Academic All American for both track & field and cross country. Following graduation, Dr. Nelson turned her focus to biomedical research. She returned to her hometown as a Chemist shaping the future of drug delivery and developed an educational outreach program to share her love of medicine and science with local students. Dr. Nelson was subsequently recruited to the University of Washington Center of Excellence for Biodefense and Emerging Infectious Disease Research where she focused on vaccine development to counter bioterrorism.

After establishing a strong foundation in research, Dr. Nelson earned her medical degree at the University of Washington. She was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha, the national medical honors society for students of the highest overall standing and graduated with accolades for her dedication to patient care and community service. Throughout medical school, Dr. Nelson contributed to clinical research in the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery. She completed six years of intense plastic surgery residency training at the University of Wisconsin with national leaders in the field. As a chief resident she presented her experience in a self-sustaining global health model at the prestigious American Association of Plastic Surgeons Annual Meeting. Dr. Nelson has continued to hone her aesthetic surgical expertise through an American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery credentialed, University of Southern California cosmetic surgery fellowship, working hand-in-hand with world-renowned masters including Drs. Grant Stevens, Jay Calvert, Luis Macias, Andrew Ordon and Ritu Chopra.

Dr. Nelson is committed to international and local community service in underserved populations with plastic surgery needs. At the age of 13 she joined Habitat for Humanity to build over a thousand homes in the United States, Mexico, Philippines, and South Africa. By the age of 19 she served as the youngest construction foreman in the history of the organization. While in Africa she studied land issues and rural development at the University of Natal and immersed herself in orphanage clinics caring for children born with HIV/AIDS. As a member of the Nicaplast Foundation, Dr. Nelson has joined and facilitated surgical missions in remote regions of Nicaragua restoring form and function to children with cleft lip and palate and those debilitated by the ravaging effects of trauma and cancer.

Dr. Nelson enjoys hiking in the great outdoors and reflection in the yoga studio. She loves gathering with friends and family especially when it involves traveling or cooking. Recently, time is joyfully spent with her adventurous co-conspirator fiance planning their rustic island wedding and life together in Oregon.
