IVY LEAGUE PRECISION

An Ivy League-educated and fellowship-trained plastic surgeon, Dr. Mookerjee brings a rare combination of elite academic rigor and deep, grounded empathy to the Plastic Surgery Institute. Hand-selected and personally mentored by Dr. Chopra, he has refined his surgical artistry under Dr. Chopra's direct guidance, mastering the advanced techniques and nuanced aesthetic philosophy that define the Institute’s world-class standards.

His passion for medicine wasn’t sparked in a lecture hall, but in the back of an ambulance. While still in high school, Dr. Mookerjee volunteered as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). Working in emergency care gave him early, raw exposure to patients in their most vulnerable moments. That experience taught him that skilled medical care means nothing without compassion—a philosophy that anchors his practice today.

THE SCHOLAR-SURGEON

Dr. Mookerjee’s path to Beverly Hills was paved with relentless academic excellence. He was accepted to medical school straight out of high school through a highly competitive, accelerated 7-year B.A./M.D. program at Boston University.

From there, he trained at Yale University’s plastic surgery residency program, where he learned from world experts in facial, breast, and cosmetic surgery. He didn't just attend Yale; he excelled there. He received the Yale Plastic Surgery Scholastic Award for achieving the highest In-Service exam score in the entire residency program. Perhaps more telling, however, is that he also received the Department of Surgery Helping Hand Award—proof that his kindness matched his intelligence.

Defining the Future of Aesthetics

Dr. Mookerjee is more than a practitioner of plastic surgery; he’s a student of its evolution. During his residency, he performed cutting-edge research in face transplantation and facial reconstruction, work that earned him the prestigious Young Investigator Award.

He continues to shape the field today as an invited member of the Editorial Board of the Aesthetic Surgery Journal, where he serves as a Next Generation Editor. This role keeps him at the forefront of the latest safety protocols and surgical innovations. Following his residency, he was accepted into the top-ranked University of Southern California Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Fellowship, where he further refined his skills in cosmetic surgery of the face and body under the mentorship of industry giants.

“I wish there were a hundred more [plastic surgeons] just like him.”

A Partnership in Healing

Dr. Vikram Mookerjee’s life outside the operating room is just as dedicated to care and connection.

He is married to a Nurse Practitioner in Breast Surgical Oncology, making them a medical power couple deeply invested in patient wellness. When they aren't discussing patient care, they are exploring the great outdoors or hunting down the best new restaurants and cuisines California has to offer.

Precision from Head to Toe

Dr. Mookerjee is well-versed in a comprehensive range of aesthetic procedures, but he holds a particular passion for eyelid rejuvenation, breast surgery, and his proprietary Preservation Facelift technique. By incorporating advanced maneuvers such as submandibular gland reduction to sculpt a refined, crisp jawline, he delivers transformative results through a thoughtful, detail-oriented approach. Whether performing subtle refinements or complex reconstructions, Dr. Mookerjee ensures your aesthetic goals are met with the highest standards of safety and comfort.

Beyond The Resume

Great surgery has a rhythm. It requires focus, flow, and exactness. Dr. Mookerjee is a classically trained violinist, a discipline he credits for developing the manual dexterity and patience required for complex reconstructive and aesthetic procedures.

The same hands that mastered the violin now perform intricate facial rejuvenation and body contouring with fluid precision. He understands that in both music and medicine, "good enough" is never enough. Every millimeter counts. This artistic background allows him to see surgery not just as a technical task, but as a form of structural harmony, ensuring that your results look balanced and naturally integrated with your unique features.

A Legacy of Innovation

Dr. Mookerjee doesn't just practice plastic surgery; he advances it. His commitment to evidence-based medicine is documented in over 20 peer-reviewed publications and dozens of podium presentations at national conferences.

His research interests directly translate to better patient outcomes. For example, his 2025 study on suture biomechanics in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery explores the optimal ways to close incisions for strength and minimal scarring. His work on nasal tip positioning helps ensure rhinoplasty results that don't "drop" over time. Furthermore, his extensive research into face transplantation at Yale provided him with an unparalleled understanding of deep facial anatomy—the same anatomy he navigates during a Deep Plane Facelift.

Dr. Mookerjee is also a dedicated advocate for equity in medicine, having published critical studies on racial disparities in surgical outcomes and inclusivity in transplant medicine, ensuring that the highest standard of care is available to every patient he treats.
